Gundula and Jeremy will perform a very special selection of Eastern European and Balkan music — songs and pieces that Gundula discovered and collected during her travels and musical explorations.
Join us for a rich and colourful program spanning Hungarian Romany laments, vibrant Balkan folk dances, and their newest explorations in Turkish “folk” tango and Bosnian Sevda.
Meet the Magic Violin Duo 🎻✨
We’re bringing 20 years of musical exploration to the Chichester Inn this June! If you haven’t seen us perform before, this is a wonderful chance to have a little glimpse into the "Magic Violin" sound.
Gundula Stojanova Gruen: Ethnomusicologist, singer, and virtuoso violinist. Originally from Bavaria, Gundula has spent over 25 years as a soloist and ensemble leader (including the London Gypsy Orchestra). With Master’s degrees in both Jazz and Ethnomusicology, she has pioneered research into Balkan music, bringing a wealth of ancient wisdom from her travels directly to the stage.
Jeremy Halliwell: A brilliant guitarist (also of Tatcho Drom) who has been Gundula’s primary musical partner for two decades. Together, they have spent 20 years exploring, refining, and sharing the soul of Balkan and Eastern European music.
